About us

A Vision Rooted in Service

Who we are

The Paul Mitau Foundation exists to empower communities through education, mentorship, and opportunity.

Paul Mitau Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to education for vulnerable children in Kenya. The foundation was established from a deep belief that education is the most powerful pathway to opportunity, dignity, and sustainable development.

Across many communities, children are forced to abandon their education because of financial hardship and limited support structures. Paul Mitau Foundation works to bridge this gap by supporting students through scholarships, mentorship, and empowerment initiatives.

By helping children remain in school and develop their potential, the foundation contributes to stronger families, empowered communities, and a more prosperous nation.

Paul Mitau

Founder and Chairman

Paul Mitau is a development practitioner with professional experience in governance, peace and security. He holds a Master’s degree in the field and has completed several advanced executive and professional courses from internationally recognized institutions.

However, the true inspiration behind the Paul Mitau Foundation is deeply personal.

Raised in a socio economically disadvantaged family, Paul experienced firsthand the struggle of accessing education. His parents made significant sacrifices to support his studies, including selling family land so that he could complete his secondary education.

These sacrifices left a lasting impression on him. They shaped his belief that education is not merely a personal achievement but a shared responsibility.

After joining the civil service, Paul took it upon himself to support the education of his younger siblings, ensuring that they too could pursue their dreams. This personal commitment to uplifting others became the seed from which the Paul Mitau Foundation was born.

Today, Paul leads the foundation with a clear vision of expanding educational opportunities for vulnerable children across Kenya. Through partnerships, mentorship programs and scholarship initiatives, he continues to champion the belief that every child deserves a fair chance to learn and succeed.
